When you need to get an old copy of a file from the backup, without restoring the whole VM. We can do it by the following steps.

  1. Go to Home>>Backups>>Disk>> Then select VM

2. Right click >> Restore Guest Files>> Microsoft Windows

3. Complete the wizard, at the end you will see the browse option.

4. Click browse, and wait for the backup browser window to open.

5. Browse to the file or folder that you want to extract and right click on it. If you want to restore to the vm directly, select the first option (restore). If you want copy to the Veeam computer, select second option (Copy to), then browse to where you want to copy the file/folder to.
