How to Prevent Access to Wireless Password via Registry Editor

Follow the steps below to prevent someone from viewing the wireless password:

  1. Press Windows key + R, then type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  2. In the Registry Editor, go to Edit > Find.
  3. Type appid in the search box and click Search.
  4. Once the search results appear, navigate to the appid section.
  5. Expand the appid list. You will see a number of app IDs listed.
  6. Scroll down and find the following ID: 86F80216-5DD6-4F43-953B-35EF40A35AEE.
  7. Right-click on this appid and select Permissions.
  8. In the permissions window, click on Advanced.
  9. Go to the Ownership tab and select Administrator.
  10. Check the box labeled Take ownership, then click Apply.
  11. Now, go to the Users tab (the first tab) and remove all users except SYSTEM.

Once these steps are completed, no one will be able to view the wireless password when opening the wireless properties.
