Canon IR2525 is a copier that comes with an option to remote scan. There is three main buttons on the machine, COPY, SEND, SCAN/PRINT. We will use the third button (scan/print) and make remote scanning online.

Then on our computer we need to install a software called ‘Color Network Scangear’. This software can be downloaded from canon website along with drivers. But there is a problem. This software is used only for making the connection. You need to use some other app to make the actual scan. Usually we used adobe acrobat custom scan option. but if we try to use any other builtin options of windows, the scanner will not be listed.

After doing my research I found that the default ‘color network scangear’ is used to connect a Twain driver. But in case of windows 10, twain drivers are deprecated we need to use WIA driver in order for windows to see the device.

Solution: we will need to remove the default scangear app and install another one that supports the WIA driver.

After installing the WIA Network Scangear app, run the app and connect our canon scanner. Then we can use any inbuilt or third party scanning apps to make our scan.

After installing Naps2. Click on profile and create your profile with default scan settings and select scan device. After connecting canon with the WIA scangear, scanner will be available as an option in the app.
